Children’s Eye Care

It is important that children are examined regularly, as many conditions in early childhood do not present symptoms and so can go undetected.

If diagnosed early most conditions can be treated to allow both good vision and health to be maintained throughout life. There is no younger limit for when an eye examination can be performed.

All children under the age of 16, and those under 19 in full time education have their eye examination funded by the NHS. If spectacles are required these too can be covered by the NHS.
